چکیده

We report, for the first time to our knowledge, a mode-locked femtosecond Cr:LiSAF laser initiated with a high-quality monolayer graphene saturable absorber (GSA), synthesized by chemical-vapor deposition. The tight-focusing resonator architecture made it possible to operate the Cr:LiSAF laser with only two 135 mW, 660 nm low-cost single-mode diode lasers. At a pump power of 270 mW, the laser produced nearly transform-limited 68 fs pulses with an average power of 11.5 mW at 850 nm. The repetition rate was around 132 MHz, corresponding to a pulse energy and peak power of 86 pJ and 1.26 kW, respectively. Once mode locking was initiated with the GSA, stable, uninterrupted femtosecond pulse generation could be sustained for hours. The saturation fluence and the modulation depth of the GSA were further determined to be 28  μJ/cm2 and 0.62%, respectively.

Low-cost, single-mode diode-pumped Cr:Colquiriite lasers.

We present three Cr3+:Colquiriite lasers as low-cost alternatives to Ti:Sapphire laser technology. Single-mode laser diodes, which cost only $150 each, were used as pump sources. In cw operation, with approximately 520 mW of absorbed pump power, up to 257, 269 and 266 mW of output power and slope efficiencies of 53%, 62% and 54% were demonstrated for Cr:LiSAF, Cr:LiSGaF and Cr:LiCAF, respective...

Widely-tunable femtosecond operation of Cr:LiSAF lasers using broadband saturable bragg reflectors Citation

We describe a low-cost diode-pumped Cr:LiSAF laser, mode-locked using a broadband saturable Bragg reflector. The laser produces continuously tunable sub-200-fs pulses from 800 nm to 905 nm. 2010 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (140.3600) Lasers, tunable; (140.3480) Lasers, diode pumped; (140.4050) Mode-locked lasers Lasers having Cr-doped colquiriite gain media (Cr:LiCAF, Cr:LiSAF and C...

Compact and efficient Cr:LiSAF lasers pumped by one single-spatial-mode diode : a minimal cost approach

In this study, we report a minimal-cost and minimal-complexity Cr:LiSAF laser that is pumped only by one inexpensive single-spatial-mode diode. The pump diode, which was originally developed for DVD-writers, provides 130 mW of output power at 660 nm with an efficiency of 30%. This simple pump source enables the construction of a Cr:LiSAF laser that (i) has an estimated total material cost below...

Graphene-based passively mode-locked bidirectional fiber ring laser.

We present an all-fiber bidirectional passively mode-locked soliton laser with a graphene-based saturable absorber for the first time to the best of our knowledge. Our design includes a four-port circulator to introduce different sections of cavity for the two counter-propagating pulses, so they have distinct output characteristics. Simultaneous bidirectional operation is achieved by appropriat...

Diode-pumped, single-frequency Cr:LiSrAlF6 ring laser.

The Ti:sapphire laser has become an established source for cw, watt-level, single-frequency power from 680 to 1050 nm, but the commonly used Ar-ion laser pump source is a disadvantage for many applications. Tunable, external-cavity, single-frequency diode lasers are available for portions of this wavelength region, but a given diode laser can cover a range of only 15– 25 nm. Cr:LiSrAlF6 (Cr:LiS...
